||Non-Profit Foundation Statement,
ACME Foundation, (Academy for Carnatic Music Education), d/b/a Sri Thyagaraja Music Festival, was formed in 1997 as an independent, non-profit, non-partisan Corporation devoted to advancing Indian Carnatic Music and Dance Education for the benefit of the public.
The primary objective of this Corporation shall be to promote the education, awareness, understanding and appreciation of the Carnatic Music and Dance of India. Music festivals have been organized since 1993 here in Seattle, Washington, with co-sponsorship from Ragamala (a non-profit organization), and the School of Music, University of Washington. The programs have been very successful and this organization has received grants from the Washington Arts Commission and endorsements from the Mayor of Seattle, and the School of Music, University of Washington. We plan to conduct similar festivals wherein the public, and students from the University of Washington are invited to attend the programs at no cost. We do not ticket the event, but solicit donations at the door.
Acme will sponsor workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and mini educational concerts in Seattle, and other nearby northwest locations by visiting, as well as local, artists for the benefit of the public in the coming years. An endowment fund has been established to sponsor a series of music, tutorials, workshops and mini concerts in the coming years.
Fund Raising Effort : Voluntary solicitation of donations, pledges, advertisement in brochures, sale of music CDs, matching grants, and grants from Local, and State Public Arts Commissions. Our support for the festival and the endowment comes from people like yourself, your friends, your employees, and your constituents. We therefore issue this appeal to you to assist us in providing the financial support commensurate with your abilities. It is a win, win situation for all and no donation is insignificant and we will accept with gratitude. Please inform your friends who are interested in music education to provide financial support and attend the festival. Some employers have a gift-matching program.
Programs: Solicit pledges prior to the event, donations at the door, and grants from grantor institutions. These funds are being used to offset deficit events and lecture demonstration costs.
Activities: The activities include sending out selective mailings, to all that attended and participated in prior music events.
